levi wanted to take the lizard home in the "LIZARD BOX" poppy bought him at harbor freight. we had to POKE AIR HOLES in it first. yes those are my fingers holding the nail...and yes i was scared they'd get smooshed!
ta da! levi did the first two.
then espen did some.
then he decided it would be more fun to smash acorns with a hammer instead.
abraham poked a few holes, with my help, with the real hammer first. then when i was done putting the holes in the top, he started trying to do more with his fake hammer.

levi wanted to try smashing acorns too.
then we found a little tiny lizard. i caught him and put him with the big guy in the old wash tub.

we were so freaked out about bugs this morning that when a huge butterfly came fluttering by, while i was taking a picture, i freaked out. all i got was a blur:)

so yarnell has these GIANT AGAVE BUGS and they like to buzz your head. one came flying at christine as she, ma, and i sat under the oak tree gabbing while watching the boys play. she swatted it and "broke" it, so we thought. abraham came over to get a better look.
then abraham said he would move it so it wouldn't get us, but as he got closer, he screamed, ditched the rake and ran away. this video is his SECOND ATTEMPT and the craziness that ensued. hilar!

the boys wanted to be more hands on with the lizard.
so they took "sticky cloths", as we call them, and tried to get one. this had worked for the boys and i on a previous trip to yarnell. it didn't work so well this time so...
i told them i'd get one for them. check out his blue belly!!!
then he flipped over. i handed him to levi and after only two seconds in levi's hands, he jumped and took off onto levi's arm. levi freaked out and threw his arms up. the lizard went flying over to the little side wall. in an attempt to catch him again a few minutes later, the poor lizard was running away from me and jumped off the little wall onto abraham's mouth!!! it was so crazy. instinctually abraham swatted him off his face and the big guy ran up the garage wall. that was the last we saw of him.
so, levi got the little guy out all by himself. if you're able to zoom on the picture you can see the baby lizards face just barely sticking out of the cloth. soooooo precious. this little guy eventually escaped while levi was trying to show espen and abraham, so we had no lizard to test out the lizard box with. there is always next time!

the perfect end to a perfect trip. thanks g'ma for inviting us up!!! can't wait to do it again some time:)
