some of the funny things abraham's been saying for a while now that i just keep forgetting to write down:
"hey, (insert your name), i talkin' to yoooou."
"hey, (insert your name), i mad at yooou." complete with super cute pout.
"thop it." which usually proceeds the phrase above. (he has such a lisp!)
or when you tell him no for something he shouldn't do he says: "no abey do it, no mama do it, no papa do it, no levi do it, no g'ma do it, no g'pa do it, no espen do it, etc. whoever is around becomes part of the list. or if it's just he and i he lists as many people as he can.
or a variation to above, if he asks if i have teeth, for example, he says: mama have teef, and abey have teef, and levi have teef, and papa have teef, and g'ma have teef, and g'pa have teef, and espen have teef, etc.

we got off to a late start today, but felt fine considering the shenanigans of chuckie's birthday party the night before. the kiddos stayed the night at my parents house, so i got a good nights sleep. one of joshua's truck tires had a flat, so we took it to discount tire. we stopped at trader joe's, then we went home to wait for their call. joshua and i were able to get some stuff done around the house. the truck took longer than we thought, but i guess that's because it was a saturday. my maaa... called around 11:30 to tell us they were pretty beat, but we didn't end up getting to their house until 3:30ish!!! we hung out in wickenburg for a little bit and then took the boys on a little SITE SEEING adventure.
first stop, the "glass antiques, bottles, and collectibles" shop. just off the 60 near my parents house.
hundreds of insulators for sale. the most common outside, but inside she had some super expensive collector fancied ones. we can't afford those yet, but hope to someday?
the little old lady who owned the shop since the 60's had gone home because it was slow, but she had this whole bell contraption rigged up, so we tried it.
the bell, in the upper right of the photo, rings up to her house. there are a ton more insulators up there too.
she came driving down the hill and let us look around. the steps into the tiny shop have outlines of bottles in all shapes and sizes.
seriously! there were hundreds of insulators all over the property. she and her husband loaded up their pick up back in the day after the electric company dismantled them. who does that sound like? hahaha.
our trip continued on to downtown wickenburg. we checked out some train repair vehicles and stumbled upon all this old machinery.
...
...
...
...
cool gears.
levi attempted to eat the powder from the bottom of his freeze dried strawberry/banana bag.
crazy horse.
abe is the happiest kid ever when he wakes up.
he made all kinds of funny post nap faces.
huge tree chunk. there's a little chipmunk on the top right of it.
and this is a close up of his little friend.
old mining cars.
we drove though the subdivision that my dad built a spec home in and we saw this gate while trying to remember where the house was. really didn't fit the neighborhood.
checking out the gigantic rooster we always pass by on the way to yarnell.
abraham wasn't so stoked to sit on him. he just became super stiff. wouldn't move a muscle.
...
just checking out the rest of the items. the store, unfortunately, was closed:(
levi on a painted wagon.
and an old tractor.
there was a real kitty in the window.
abraham giving papa some metal circle he found on the ground. like papa, like son.
heading to the tracks.
levi found a super shiny rock.
walking the tracks.
...
abraham screaming, "mama cooooome."
abraham in the triangle.
levi leaping over the switch ties.
abraham pre leap. copy catting his brother of course.
after this little expedition we headed up the hill to yarnell. we just ate din and watched movies. the weather is so much nicer in yarnell than phoenix!!!
mummified bananas. who knew.

we left for illinois on june 26. we returned to arizona on july 24. however, we decided to head straight to yarnell and beat he heat for as long as we could. last night was the 1st time i had been home in 5 weeks. when i woke up this morning joshua asked if i noticed the bananas. i thought he meant the two we brought with us for breakfast. i asked what about them? he meant these guys!!!:
we forgot to pass these along to neighbors. oops!
luckily they didn't fall apart and get moldy. we could have come home to a smelly house full of bugs!
chuckie's 30th birthday.
*if you saw this post a few days ago you may notice it has been abridged. joshua requested i revise it since it's public. he said what happens at karaoke, stays at karaoke. though nothing really "happened" at karaoke other than a ton of mostly 30-somethings singing their hearts out. if i ever make this blog into a book, he said i can put the original back in it. it's saved as a draft;)*

you know a party's gonna be good when the evite alert says: "it's my birthday. drinks, dinner, drinks, dessert, drinks, karaoke, and drinks.":))) then you open the evite and find you'll be dinning at: MODERN STEAK, then heading to karaoke at: GEISHA A GO GO. oh, and it's adults only! so, joshua and i left the boys with my parents in yarnell and headed to phoenix. (thank you g'pa and g'ma batt) we brought espen down with us. my sister picked us and espen up at our house and dropped us off at the restaurant. we were SO ready for the party. he had been looking forward to it for weeks!
They were all in love with dyin'
They were drinking from a fountain
That was pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I don't mind the sun sometimes
The images it shows
I can taste you on my lips
And smell you in my clothes
Cinnamon and sugary
And softly spoken lies
You never know just how you look
Through other people's eyes

the birthday boy, CHUCKIE, and his beautiful wife and dear friend, SHANNON.
i only had TWO MARGARITAS. one before dinner and one during, but they must have kept me so busy that i didn't think to take any pictures until we sang chuckie happy birthday, right before we left. that's so unlike me. i wish i had a picture of my lobster chowder served in a mini "all clad" pot and my heavenly sea bass entree. i also missed a shot of our trio of desserts. one lemon, one peanut butter, and one strawberry. oh well. they were delish!
they hired a shuttle to take us to our next location. we're off to geisha a go go. it was fun chit chatting with torrey and tonya & sean and katie on the ride over.
joshua dived right into picking a song.
chuckie got the party started with bowie's "ziggy stardust".
joshua was next with joan jett's "i love rock and roll."
singing.
...
...
i only had one more margarita, but poured myself a few SAKI'S. i was feeling pretty good, but not courageous enough to sing into a microphone. i can be heard on every darn video i took though, so i'm never gonna post any here. hahaha! nothing can stop joshua from singing and as you can see here, he too is having a fantastic time!
awe...GOOD FRIENDS!
"another one bites the dust."
this was so cute! danielle, whom i just met, but loved, was super embarrassed about her husband signing. he rocked it though.
air guitar.
when the party was over joshua and i took a cab home. our cabbie had the radio on barely audibly, but i could tell butthole surfers "PEPPER" was playing. i told him i used to love that song, so he turned it up! woo hoo. karaoke continued on the way home. now i can't get the song out of my head. i remember loving the video too so i watched on youtube when i got home:) music has always been important to me and i loved hanging out tonight with others who love it just as much as i do!!!They were all in love with dyin'
