Carl came to pick the boys up for us today since we were too tired to go to dance tonight. So Joshua and I went on a lil dinner date. We drove around and around the Windsor Square neighborhood on our way to Applebee's for dinner...compliments of a thankful Simis student and family. On our way we saw this. Some sort of exterior air conditioner on the side. Some people are just too creative!!! We checked out Rango from the Red Box after din and I ended up falling asleep half way through the movie. Joshua's usually the one who falls asleep during movies and I'm the one up for hours after. I'm still trying to adjust to getting up way earlier than I'm used to. Not diggin' the morning gig yet.

saturday night, october 9, 2010.
joshua and i attended the 50th ANNUAL GREEK FESTIVAL at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in phoenix. audrey and amanda were kind enough to pick the boys up from the TOUR DE FAT and keep them over night so joshua and i could go out ON A DATE! we got to hop in on several dances throughout the night, thanks to our folk dance classes, and ran in to several other members of our group. we ordered a large LOUKOUMADES, i got a frappe, and we DANCED THE NIGHT AWAY. OPA!
joshua's to the right of middle.
tons of people dance and the lines get all crazy!!!

joshua ended up seeing a bunch of kids from his school and their parents.
i felt like a tourist, but i just had to buy a coined scarf. it's gonna be part of my gypsy halloween costume!
i jingled everywhere i went. hahaha.

yesterday, after meeting my parents in prescott for my poppy's birthday and folk dancing, the boys went to stay the night in yarnell. so, i had the day off. i finally got to hang out with my long time friend esther. we went to lunch at ajo al's, came back home to chit chat, and then headed to the verizon store when joshua's piano lessons started. i finally ordered another phone!!! luv ya esther!!! so glad we got to catch up and can't wait to see you guys this weekend.
the boys are staying the night in yarnell tonight, as well, so joshua and i decided to go see a movie!

chuckie posted on facebook that a band he works with, "snakes, snakes, snakes!", was having a cd release show at the RHYTHM ROOM. joshua and i thought it would be fun to go check it out. the GOSPEL CLAWS were also playing. joshua had seen them before, but i hadn't. they are really good! we stopped off and got TWO HIPPIES TACOS, drank joshua's SANGRIA especial, and headed out. i love live music and i love being around people who love it. i didn't know any of the songs, but it didn't stop me from bopping my head and tapping my feet. fun stuff. oh, the best part is that the boys are being watched by g'pa and g'ma block for two nights in a row!!! we have folk dance tomorrow in phoenix instead of mesa, so the whole thing worked out SPLENDIDLY:)))
the crowd.

demolition derby at the iroquois county fair.
thursday, july 15, 2010. tonight joshua and i went to the IROQUOIS COUNTY FAIR, sans kids. aunt mic and lizzie offered to watch the boys so joshua and i could have a DATE NIGHT! we had planned to take the boys, thinking levi would love watching the cars crash into each other, but thought it might be too loud/scary. plus it was well over 2 1/2 hours long. i, myself, didn't want to watch it that long. the boys would only be interested for a 1/2 hour max. so, off joshua and i went to enjoy some ALONE TIME, FAIR FOOD (i'm SO going on a diet when i get home), and down n' dirty driving. good fun.
the national anthem. the flags are being held by the best looking car/truck winners.
let the games begin.
dirt flying everywhere. the more dirt, the more the crowd cheered.
this car was being driven by a GIRL from gilman. who'd a thunk?
these are the cars from the 2nd heat.

then they all lined up before they can go.
there are two guys, to the left of middle, beating the heck out of their car with sledge hammers. several other cars were being beat up the same way at various times in the night. not sure why.
i liked the orange car.
3rd heat. i was getting a little antsy and there were long pauses between heats because they had to push dead cars away and re-wet the dirt field. so, we left when this one was done.
crashing.
we stood behind the outer fence. we didn't want to pay to get in. i liked where we were because we could watch the guys work on their cars and watch the game.
this car used a fence post to reinforce it's driver door.
me having fun.
joshua having fun.
the field by night.
after the 3rd heat we just wandered around the fair grounds looking for fair food. i got a chili cheese dog. joshua got a cheese fries boat. later i found a "cheese on a stick". that brought back memories of going to the mall with my mom when i was little. we'd get cheese on a stick or what's called a shishkadog. it was alternating layers of cheese chunks and hot dog slices. we split a lemon shake up too.
this was an entry that i thought was super funny.
a bulldozer made of scrap.
dirt flying!
after we ate and walked around a little we discovered the entrance to the grand stand was not being monitored so we watched the rest of the derby from the entrance aisle.
where there's smoke...
there's fire!
the ref in the middle is calling the game.
yummy goodness. this is an elephant ear. the family in front of us ordered one too and their daughter asked if it was a real one! hahaha.
my hubby.
all these red tractors had "ball" jars attached to them. we asked the guy at the next tractor what it was for and he said it was to catch dirt and debris. then the farmer just empties it when it gets full. what i was trying to take a picture of here was a spider and his web.
black market. world war 2.
crazy little fake kid. freaked me out!
