historic farm days. penfield, illinois.

saturday, july 10, 2010. on our way home from the lake we stopped in PENFIELD to check out the HISTORIC FARM DAYS tractor show. there were over 1,000 antique tractors. it was pretty incredible how they put this show together. then, when we got home, uncle rex came over for a couple hours.
our pamphlet.
a map of the grounds.
the boys got to sit on this tractor before we made inside the venue. as much as levi loves tractors, he wasn't too into sitting on one.
golf cart ride to the entrance.
abey on a huge panther. the henrich's boys just acquired one of these for their tiling business.
look familiar. this is the real deal. there were tons of them. people drove gators and rented golf carts all over the grounds.
barbed wire history.
walking.
joshua heaven.
he really wanted to go to this event so he could check out the blacksmithing demos. little did he know he'd get to forge a piece on his own!!!
cranking the blower.
hammering.
getting tips from a very knowledgeable man.
abraham almost asleep.
old school equipment.
bending a curve on the anvil.
more tips.
more bending.
cutting his forged piece off. then he got to work on the other side.
by this time abe was out and levi wanted to be picked up. it was time for levi and i to do a little exploring.
we checked out all kinds of antique equipment.
crazy old steam tractor.
levi's favorites were these little cub cadets. they looked like mini tractors with tiny attachments.
track tractor. not many of those here.
levi looking a huge spider web on this guy.

levi and the tiny ones.
an old farmer made this chair. it bounces you up and down and side to side.
abraham crashed out on a golf cart.
joshua's finished product. an "S" hook. it turned out awesome!!!
the steam tractor ended up at the saw mill.
it ran the belt that ran the saw.
watching logs get milled.
all the sawdust was sucked up this tube and dumped in the cart.
check out how huge the blade is!
