children's museum with friends. levi's paper chicken art.

thursday, september 16, 2010.
the boys and i were excited to hang out with some of our favorite peeps today at the PHOENIX CHILDREN'S MUSEUM.
lity and denver reading books.
abraham jumping onto the "BOAT" levi made. nothing can take levi's nose out of a book;;)
puzzles.
denver and levi in a fort that one of the workers made for them.
levi.
abraham.
abey crawling through the tunnel.
so sorry denver!
levi, ella, denver, and abradoodle. love abraham's face here.
serving up some scream.
scooping.
painting.
the boys are in a super cute barn in the art room, and look what was inside...a chicken!!!
cutting.
abraham rocking "PUNK ROCK" PINK HAIR. compliments of the castle painting station.
this, as a mommy watching her son, was one of the MOST INCREDIBLE MOMENTS of levi's life that i have ever had the PLEASURE TO WITNESS.
so this is HOW IT STARTED. i drew some chickens for abraham. levi said he was gonna make a chicken too. so, he started cutting shapes out of plain paper. the picture just above this one shows a head, body and two legs.
then he cut out a beak, and wings, and glued it all together. oh, but that's not all. he even made AN EGG and glued it to her, exactly where and egg would come out (i.e. between her legs). so KICKING MYSELF for not taking a pic of that!!! how he knew where an egg would come out is beyond me:) however, he ended up removing the egg. not sure if it was because he caught us all kind of snicking about it as he'd show us, or if it was because he wanted to make the "baby".
he made a couple extra eggs too. i love how they are both totally concentrating on their projects.
and levi's work continued until...
he had created a full on chicken and baby holding wings MASTERPIECE! i just really couldn't believe what i was seeing, that he had this ability cut these free form shape and piece them together in such a way that they made exactly what he wanted...a chicken and her baby.
miss ella.
mr. denver.
i was briefly in charge of all four kids. it was all good until abraham made a beeline for the noodles. just around the corner he is approaching in this picture. i screamed at the top of my lungs in an attempt to startle abraham into stopping, but ended up only startling everyone else in the noodle forest. abraham just looked back at me, laughed and kept running. luckily, i swooped him up when he was only about 10 noodles deep, ran him out and found the rest of the kiddos had made it to the race cars safely.
launching.
the perfect picture spot! the are so ADORABLE.
when we got home it was time to check for eggs.
two today. yay!
funny outtake.
total cuteness:))) though abe is covering up the eggs i was trying to capture as well.
dusting them off.
i wanted to get a picture with more detail of all the pieces levi cut, but the light had to be bad to do so.

then levi asked it he could draw on it. the beak of the baby came off sometime between the above pic and this one, but i love that he added eyes and a belly button. i took this one with my phone camera and it rotates in my photo viewing program, but didn't stay rotated in uploading it here. have to figure that one out when i have some time.
my first scrambled eggs. i must admit i was kinda grossed out about eating the eggs from our chickens, at first. i read it's because we are usually so detached from our food we don't think about where it comes from. it was the same when we had fish in our aquarium, r.i.p., i couldn't bare the thought of eating fish. weird, huh? the eggs ended up being delish!

long overdue din din at the SOCHA's and homemade gift wrap.

saturday, august 21, 2010.
the boys made gift wrap this morning. we are finally going to get to give denver and mavrick there presents tonight. espen's birthday party is tomorrow, so we made his gift bag too.
the boys hard at work.
levi making arms for his traced hands and abraham used every single sticker on his sheet.
*i was a surprised that levi did not want to have his left hand traced. he said he didn't like how is was bent!?!  hmm...?
the finished product. which i, of course, consider a masterpiece.
these two pink guys are levi's "piglets." there was a blue one also, on the left, but abraham scribbled over him:(
now onto espen's spiderman/CHRISTMAS themed gift bag. i turn trader joe's bags inside out whenever we need a large gift bag. then the boys go to town with markers and stickers.
levi SNIFFING the BERRY scented marker. yum!
this evening we finally headed to the SOCHA'S. joshua and i had wanted to bring them dinner after mavrick was born, oh so long ago now, but we got super sick and then left for illinois.
the boys checking out denver's beta fish, SQUIRT!
denver's awesome art table.
awe. joshy and baby mav.
just like at the children's museum, mavrick totally cried when i tried to hold him tonight.
abraham happily playing with denver's train set.
DENVER, the cutie pie, being silly:)
i love denver playing in the background.
choo choo. trains galore.
lity playing with denver.
all kids looking down, concentrating on some serious play.
...
a real "cranky the crane."
denver trying to put a visor on levi's head:)
levi attempting to take a ride on a remote control truck. alas, he figured out he is too heavy.
abraham learning how magnets can REPEL each other. he tried for 5 minutes to get the train to connect to cranky's magnet. he knew it was possible because he had done it several times prior. he was NOT GIVING UP! i eventually showed him that he had to turn it around.
denver digging in for more goodies. i think he has more trains then we do. i didn't think that was possible;)
proud papa roger and his little dude:)

it's always so fun getting together with wendi and roger and their beautiful family. the boys get along so well. we love you guys!!!
