our neighbors, the roberts, moved to a part of town that didn't allow them to keep their chickens. one night while chit chatting with neighbors outside, tyler, their daughter, came over and asked carmie if she wanted their coop. carmie said she couldn't take it at the time. i looked at joshua and said i think we should take it. luckily, joshua felt the same way. we had tossed around the idea of buying some of own on several occasions. we had read about how beneficial chicken's are for gardeners, with the most recent article being in the last special "gardening" issue of Phoenix Homes and Gardens magazine. it was so hard to be patient and wait the two weeks until the roberts officially moved. levi would ask "how many more days until we get the chickens" everyday. finally, today was the day! our RHODE ISLAND REDS are here! it is super sad, however, that the neighborhood is losing such a great family. the roberts will be missed.

at one point abraham said, "I'M GONNA GET IN THE COOP AND BE A ROOSTER!!!" he threw his head back as he cracked up.
later in the day i came out to check on things and found that levi had pulled up a chair and was just watching them:) SO SWEET!!!
the roberts named them henny penny and jenny.
levi wanted to name them NEMO and JUNIOR.
