hoping the zoo will pull me though.

thursday, october 7, 2010.
so this morning, the extra school computer we use to let the boys watch movies at random, like when i need to get stuff done, totally died...is this for real? i'm fine with all this old stuff breaking, as it's to be expected, but i just wish it could be a little more spread out. i always say we are broke, but that's not entirely true. we have money in saving that is, in my mind, strictly for if something should happen to joshua or his job. i wish it was big enough to include repair funds, but in this economy, with it's no teacher salary raises + higher insurance rates=no money going into savings the way it used to. someday, god willing, that time will come again. until then, i made an appointment for the sears repair man to come and fix our washing machine, and our tiny financial cushion will be that much smaller. i suppose i should be more thankful that we even have a cushion, huh? anyway, for pretty much the whole time i was on the phone with the scheduler, abraham was screaming at me about wanting to watch a movie. i had to keep asking the man to repeat himself and it seemed we were on the phone for a half hour. then he made me decide between paying a basic free or upgrading to a service plan that i could later retract upon. like i have time to make such a decision with an angry little dude kicking me in the shins. i opted for the higher priced package. as soon as i got off the phone with him i called joshua and we both decided we were undecided if it was a scam or not, but i figure i can always call and get my money refunded, minus the basic service fee. however, the machine is over 7 years old. not sure it's worth dumping any money into it really.
***TGIF (thank God it's folk dance day), at least i have tonight to look forward to.***
abraham colored over levi's heads with legs. how cute is this, he made a little family of four!
abey uses this little shape tool to darken every part of the drawing surface.
at first levi was a little upset, but you could still see the drawings underneath and he could still draw faintly on top.
so wendi emailed us yesterday that she, denver, and mavrick would be going to the zoo this morning. i wasn't sure we'd be able to go, thinking/hoping the repair appointment could be the same day as my call, but no such luck. so, to get abraham's mind off of no movies, i packed the boys up and we met wendi and friends. i had a gut feeling that it might not be such a great idea though because abraham was just acting like he woke up on the wrong side of the bed...and sure enough, his little attitude came with us to the zoo. at least i tried to turn the day around, right?
levi on safari.
a little blurry, but a lot cute.
milking the cow.
two handed.
one handed.
these two just looked like this the whole time we watched them. abe decided he wanted to go pet goats, but levi didn't want too and i had the stroller which you can't take inside. so, abraham decides to dash into the barn against my orders and when we came out, after i caught him, i couldn't find levi. he bolted out of sight. by this point both boys were being naughty and not listening to me, but i thought i'd give them one more chance. i let them play in the little people playground by where wendi and the kiddos were eating. they played a bit and then abraham told me he had to pee. as i was putting his shoes on to head to the bathroom, he apparently couldn't hold it that long and just peed his pants!!! that was it, i was done. i cleaned abe up in the potty and we headed home.
levi loves maps.
figuring out where we were.
an eagle.
i still let them look at stuff as we made our way back to the car.
curled up kitty.
big ol' turtle.
folk dance, folk dance, folk dance, folk dance, folk dance...

the zoo

monday, may 24, 2010. maaa... and i took the boys to the zoo today. the weather was gorgeous and we weren't sure we were gonna get another day like this 'til summer's over. so, we took full advantage.
levi picking out where to go. we actually had to wait around at the giraffe area for joshua to bring us ABRAHAM'S SHOES. i totally left them at home. I have to give joshua a huge THANK YOU for driving them all the way out to us.
espen, levi, water.
hooray for misters!
rock climbing
cute cousins.
levi and the one legged road runner. he hops really fast!
abe giving kisses.
the boys looking at a bird (lower left). we think it was injured because it would shriek and hop around, but not fly away. levi really felt sorry for it. i have other pics with just he and the bird and his face shows such concern. i LOVE his heart.
i'm thinking this is why abe is ALWAYS SICK!
check out the gila monster and the snack laying together on the rock.
total CUTENESS!
abe and the peacocks.
can't believe the zoo lets these guys just roam around.
little person at little people farm.
levi carrying abe's and espen's ditched shoes. his were ditch shortly thereafter.
so while i disciplined levi for going down the slide like this...
...abraham ran away from the play area over to the cow!!! i was in a panic looking all around the barn where i last saw him, but he was gone. then i found him here.
abe wondering where the milk is? you have to be able to squeeze much harder than he can to get it to come out.
getting ready to pet some goats.
it was feeding time, so all the goats were busy eating.
i was surprised levi came in this time. usually he stays with grandma while i take abe and espen in. he pet a few goats and then asked to go back out and wait with grandma. espen and abe were ready to go too.
abe LOVES the goats
espen loves them too!
abe kept asking me to pet this one too. so, i did.
SERIOUSLY, we stayed at this washing station for what seemed like forever. the boys loved working the foot peddle to get the water to run.
getting nice and CLEAN WET
after we went back out to meet grandma, abe bolted and ran back in to try and wash his hands again.
the green tractor.
HUGS
abe just kept hopping around this pole in circles.
blurry foot in motion.
getting along!
espen with some serious monkey moves.
levi about to go down the slide the way he was just told not to!!!

driving.
levi has a FOAM ANIMAL. when he first brought his hand out there was a long "neck" looking piece standing straight up. he said it looked like a "giraffe"
