April 10, 2012. Way back in January we had a young man, by the name of Stephen, come to our house to give us an estimate on painting our living room and hallway. (YES!!!) Ever since then Abe had wanted to be called "painter Steven". Then about two weeks later it began to morph into "artist Steven", "worker Steven" (the construction kind), "Dr. Stephen", "gardener Stephen"...etc. Stephen's name was always prefaced by whatever Abe was playing at the time. "Stephen" had sons named Levi and Abe, coincidentally, and they had all the same toys as my boys, go figure;) But then he'd embellish with other kids names like Eli and Eeka. A couple weeks ago that started to change too and now he comes up with all kinds of names. I am visited by at least 10 different characters a day now. He'll start off the day as, say..."super martian robot boy", who helps Abraham not have scary dreams. He usually starts off the conversation with "hey, I'm (insert name), how's it goin'? haven't seen you in a while." Then after he's done with that character he'll say, "Do you know who I am now?" Sometimes he's, Eli, Eeka, Benji and Bunge (twins), Esther (a boy), Tyler, Bible Man, He's also really into being dinosaurs right now, switching from "plant eaters" to "sharp tooths", that is, when he isn't busy being a puppy or a kitty either. I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the imaginative play that has ensued around here lately and I enjoying playing along and helping create these new little worlds. Seems to make the day go faster!
January 17, 2012. "If you like to gwash matatoes"...for the opening of the Veggie Tales movies. Watched one on January 1, 2012 at the Block's house and the song is so catchy we were all singing it for days. But, over time, as it is sung less and less often, and now only by Abe, it has mutated into something very different...and hilarious:)
September 27, 2011. Abey was way crabby tonight and Joshua put him in time out a couple times. While Abe was doing his 3 minutes time, Joshua kept trying to lighten the mood, buy saying silly things to Abe. Abe was not appreciative and let Joshua know..."You're jokes aren't funny, ugh!!!" Joshua came into the kitchen to laugh and I was just cracking up. If you know Joshua and his tireless jokes, you'd get it;)
***Also, lately, Abey's been really into saying he's being beaten up, hit or tackled by bad men or robbers. It's a little concerning to me. He said someone in his "class", so I'm assuming Sunday School, kept hitting him. Out of concern I asked Levi, since they are in the same class, if he's ever seen someone hit Abe over and over and Levi laughed and said no. So I asked Abe again and said Levi never saw anyone ever hit him. He says, "well maybe it was a robber or something."...with a big grin on his face. Stacy said I should read him "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." Another time he said a scrap on his leg was from when he was "tackled" by a robber when he was playing with Kylie!
September 22, 2011. We were at Sprouts when Abe and Levi saw a man with a prosthetic arm that had a metal pincher type hand. As if when they saw him Levi's yelling "lets follow him wasn't bad enough, Abe yells over and over, look mama...he's a pirate!!!" I had to slow up the cart and explain to Abe that while his arm was cool looking, the man might think it was rude to call him that.
September 16, 2011. Abe was walking all over the house saying how much he "loves" everything. After naming several things over the course of 10 minutes, he say, " I just remembered I'm a lovebug."
September 10, 2011. Abe is super into how tall things are and trying to figure out how tall he is compared to them. Like in the shower he wants to know how many tiles high he can reach.
April 4, 2011. I’m gonna do a ballet dance with my blue ball (blue punching balloon). Watch my blue ballet dance.
March, 2011. Not sure the exact days because I failed to put the date on the scrap paper I was using to jot these down, but here they are:
We don't eat poops, we don't eat puppies or horses. We don't eat mommies. We don't eat daddies. We don't eat kids. We don't eat Levi's. We don't eat moms.
the next three are examples of his new favorites, "probably", "actually", and "of course."
In the morning, after we woke up, I asked Abraham why he ended up coming into our bed that night. He said, "Probably because I was cold in my bed."
I told Abey that he's getting bigger and bigger everyday. He says to me, "Actually, I'm growing." LOL
Usually if you ask Abraham to do something he says, "oh, of course I can." And, sometimes he thanks me for "letting him help me...fill in the blank." So if I say, "Abraham can you help me empty the trash?" He'll say "Thank you for letting me help you empty the trash!" Hope this lasts into his teenage years;)
At dinner Abraham kept saying he had blood on a finger while eating ravioli. This morning I saw the cut and he said totally laughing, "See it was not spaghetti, it was not saaaaauce." (which is what I told him it was...oops!)
March 1, 2011. You are making me angry and mad. And you’re making me like a gun, rescue hero, cup, spoon, barn, airplane, and like a house.
February 7, 2011. Tonight at dinner Abraham was "telling jokes." Joshua and I had tears in our eyes. They weren't necessarily funny, but he'd make these faces while telling them and let out a huge laugh at the end of each one. i.e. There was this monkey and he fell in a hole! a hahaha." (which happens in a new Diego movie Levi got for his birthday), or "There was this lady and she fell in a hole! a hahaha.", or "There was this monkey and he had to go poop!" We would not laugh at the poop jokes we told him. He's really into using the words "poop", "butt", and "toot" lately. We've explained several time over the past few weeks that those words are only used for going potty!
February 4, 2011. While at Nikolay's birthday party, Abraham had to use the restroom. When done he asked me to look and said, "There's a daddy poopy, a mommy poopy, and a baby poopy. I just pretending they have eyeth, a noth, a mouth, and hands." Really? He is SO stinkin' funny.
January 26, 2011. Abraham is in love with listing the things he's in love with. Not only his family, but anything in view. ie.) I love my milk, i love my bread, i love my brother, i love my highchair, i love my plate, i love my mom, etc. He'll just bust out with these cute little convos anytime, anywhere, with the list involving whatever's around.
January 25, 2011. Today Abraham referred to my forehead wrinkles as "cuts". Nice.
January 16, 2011. The boys and I went to Costco after church this morning. As I'm pushing Levi and Abraham in a cart, Abraham points to an African American gentleman who passed us and is not even two feet away and says, rather loudly, "Hey mama, he's chocolate." He's all grinning up at me and repeats it, then twists in his seat to point at him!!! I shushed him and made my NO NO face. Inside i was dying (laughing)!!! Yep, another doosey out of the mouth of Abe:)
Early January, 2011. Abraham is very into saying he is going to "kill (sometimes with his fiery sword!), shoot, poke, pinch," etc. bad guys or monsters. I keep trying to tell him it's not ok to say those words, but a las, occasionally the words reenter his vocabulary. He even said he was going to do those things to me when he was out of time out because he was mad at me!!! He just doesn't understand the true meaning, effect, or consequence of what some of those words mean:(
december 27, 2010. in the mornings abraham wakes up super happy and talkative. he just babbles and gives me "kithes and hugs". at one point, this morning, he sang a super cute song i'd never heard..."i wish, i wish, i wish, i wish, i wish, i wish, i wish, etc. a christmas wish." repeat. he then looked at me as he touched my forehead, he said "i have to fix you, you're broken. you have a crack." "what?", i ask. "you have a crack right heeeere." he was referring to my HUGE wrinkle!!! hahahaha. out of the mouth of babes:)
