ok. just to recap. my last post was about how I ACTUALLY READ A BOOK for the 1st time in like 15 years and at the end i mentioned that i had a phobia about public speaking. i was pretty nervous about discussing my thoughts about the book, recalling all the horrible memories of getting called on and put on the spot in high school. i used to experience a lot of ANXIETY as well. when i'd get called on my face would turn bright red, my chest and arms would get all blotchy and my heart would race. what i failed to realize is that the people i'd be discussing the book with on this particular night were my FRIENDS. not a teacher who was going to be grading me or peers judging me!!! i also worried about my poor retention of material. i think i remembered so much about this book because i thoroughly enjoyed it (and the fact that i just finished it the day before probably helped). it wasn't a boring text book forced on me as a requirement. i forgot how when i did read those 5 books oh so long ago, they too were enjoyable. i especially LOVED talking about the book and hearing EVERYONE ELSE'S REACTIONS. it's just one more thing we girlie's all have in common now. Reading a book that was so dirty/racey and everyone admitting to liking it totally cracks me up! my intent for this blog post was not to right a review of the book, because, thank GOD, i'm not in school anymore. but, rather just right about MY EXPERIENCE. i will, however, attempt to post a link to a review in case others are interested. http://www.amazon.com/Choke-Chuck-Palahniuk/dp/0307388921/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1273028407&sr=1-1

i want to THANK all my fellow book club girlie's for your friendship and for encouraging me to come. it feels good to be part of the reading population again! it's actually a major BREAKTHROUGH (YAY for me). i can't wait to find out what the next book is. now if only i can get over my PHOBIA of hosting! just kidding.
